Draw Lines
The following types of line can be added to a drawing.
•
Draw Lines with Specified Points
•
Draw Lines with Specified Displacement
Draw Lines with Specified Points
To draw a line with specified points, on the Draw tab, in the Draw group, click Line.
Alternatively, on the Home tab, in the Draw group, click Line.
The user is prompted to Specify the first point or <Finish>
Input values in the dimension fields and press Enter or click to identify the starting point of the line.
The user is then prompted to Specify the next point or <Finish>
Input values in the dimension and angle fields and press Enter or click to identify the point to which the line is drawn. A line is drawn between the two specified points.
The prompt is repeated, allowing the user to create multiple lines. The first point of a new line is positioned at the same point as the second point of the previous line.
Input F at the prompt and press Enter to end the command.
Note:
If more than one line is created, no connection is made between the lines.
Throughout the line creation process the user can press ESC to cancel the command. Additional functionality is also available.
Close
Press the down arrow key and select Close to link the two endpoints of the drawn lines together with an automatically drawn line and end the command.
Displacement
Press the down arrow key and select Displacement to draw a line with a specified displacement. Refer to Draw Lines with Specified Displacement for further information.
Finish
Press the down arrow key and select Finish to end the command.
Undo
Press the down arrow key and select Undo to undo the last action.
The new NOTE element displays in the Draw Explorer containing a STRAI element that represents each line.
Draw Lines with Specified Displacement
To draw a line with specified displacement, on the Draw tab, in the Draw group, click Line.
Alternatively, on the Home tab, in the Draw group, click Line.
The user is prompted to Specify the first point or <Finish>
Input values in the dimension fields and press Enter or click to identify the starting point of the line.
The user is then prompted to Specify the next point or <Finish>
Input D at the prompt and press Enter.
The user is then prompted to Specify displacement or <finish>
Input values in the dimension and angle fields and press Enter or click to identify the point to which the line is drawn, with reference to the zero point of the user coordinates system. A line is drawn between the two specified points.
The prompt is repeated, allowing the user to create multiple lines. The first point of a new line is positioned at the same point as the second point of the previous line.
Input F at the prompt and press Enter to end the command.
Note:

Press the down arrow key and select Next point to draw a line without specifying a displacement. Refer to Draw Lines with Specified Points for further information.
