Create and Modify Views : Format 2D View : Define View Contents

The contents of a view, are listed in a drawlist. When a view is created, a new drawlist is automatically created at the same time.

If the Quick View option for creating the view is selected, the drawlist is populated with the currently selected element and the element members.

To modify the list of elements in a view drawlist for the currently selected view, on the Format 2D tab, in the Drawlist group, click Manager to display the Drawlist Management window.

Alternatively, on the Limits-Defined View window, click Graphics, select Drawlist from the drop-down list.

If the drawlist contains an invalid entry, for example, when the VIEW data does not reflect the Model data, an error window displays, summarising the problem.

The error window in the example informs the user that there is one invalid entry in the drawlist. The user must correct the error to display the Drawlist Management window.

The Drawlist Management window allows the user to define the drawlist contents by compiling a list of selected elements that are drawn in the view.

To resize the Drawlist Management window, click a corner or side and drag the cursor to create a window of the required size.

The Navigation drop-down menu allows the user to select elements to display in the Reference List Members.


Owner	Select to navigate to the owning element of the currently selected element. The element is selected in the Reference List Members.
First	Select Element to navigate to the first element in the currently selected hierarchy. The element is selected in the Reference List Members. Select Member to navigate to the first member of the currently selected element. The element is selected in the Reference List Members.
Last	Select Element to navigate to the last element in the currently selected hierarchy. The element is selected in the Reference List Members. Select Member to navigate to the last member of the currently selected element. The element is selected in the Reference List Members.
Same	Select to navigate to the previously selected element. The element is selected in the Reference List Members.
Drawlist Library	Select a drawlist library from the drop-down list.
Drawlists	Displays the drawlists in the selected drawlist library. Select a drawlist from the drop-down list.
Create	Allows the user to create a drawlist. Refer to Create Drawlist for further information.
Create Copy	Click to display the Create Drawlist window. Refer to Create Drawlist for further information. The user can name the file and click OK to display the Copy Drawlist window. The Copy Drawlist window allows the user to create a copy of the selected drawlist. Select a drawlist library from the drop-down list. The Drawlists part of the window displays the available drawlists. Click OK to create a copy of the drawlist or Cancel to discard any changes and close the Copy Drawlist window. The user is returned to the Drawlist Management window.
Delete	Click to delete the currently selected drawlist.
Clean Up	Click to enhance a drawlist. All BAD or NULL references are removed.
	Click to navigate to the previous element in the currently selected hierarchy. The element is selected in the Reference List Members.
	Click to navigate to the next element in the currently selected hierarchy. The element is selected in the Reference List Members.
Reference List Members	Displays the available elements in the design database.
Drawlist Members	Displays the elements that are included in the drawlist.
Design Members / Drawlists	Select Design Members from the drop-down list to pick design elements explicitly. The design member elements display in the Reference List Members. Select Drawlists from the drop-down list to identify design elements from other drawlists. The drawlists display in the Reference List Members.
Lists	Allows the user to create and modify lists. Refer to Lists/Collections for further information.
Update	Click to update the Drawlist Management window settings.
Add	Click to add a selected element from the Reference List Members to the Drawlist Members.
Remove	Click to add all the members of an element selected in the Reference List Members to the Drawlist Members. The user can then select members of the element to be removed from the list.
Delete Entry	Click to delete the selected drawlist entry from the Drawlist Members.
Delete All	Click to delete all entries from the Drawlist Members.
Volume Defined	Allows the user to add elements within a given design volume to the drawlist. All significant elements positioned partially or fully within the current limits box are added to the drawlist. If no limits box is currently defined the Drawlist Limits window displays. Refer to Drawlist Limits for further information.
Limits	Allows the user to set the drawlist limits. Refer to Drawlist Limits for further information.

Click Cancel to discard any changes and close the Drawlist Management window.

Create Drawlist

To create a new drawlist, on the Drawlist Management window, click Create to display the Create Drawlist window.

The Create Drawlist window displays a default name for the drawlist. Input a different name if required.

Click OK to apply the drawlist name or Cancel to discard any changes and close the Create Drawlist window. The user is returned to the Drawlist Management window.

Drawlist Limits

To set drawlist limits, on the Drawlist Management window, click Limits to display the Drawlist Limits window.

All significant elements contained within a limits box are added to the drawlist.

Input dimensional values in the directional fields to define the coordinates of the two opposing corners of the limits box. The direction can be defined in East, West, North, South, Up and Down directions using the drop-down lists.

Click OK to apply the limits or Cancel to discard any changes and close the Drawlist Limits window. The user is returned to the Drawlist Management window.

Lists/Collections

To create and modify lists, on the Drawlist Management window, click Lists to display the Lists/Collections window.

The Lists/Collections window allows the user to create and define the elements included in a drawlist.


Control
Save	Select from the drop-down menu to save the current settings.
Restore	Select from the drop-down menu to discard any changes and restore the settings of the Lists/Collections window to when it was opened.
Close	Select from the drop-down menu to close the Lists/Collections window.
Add
CE	Select from the drop-down menu to add the currently selected element to the list using the Drawlist Management window or the drawing canvas
CE Members	Select from the drop-down menu to add the currently selected element and associated child elements to the list using the Drawlist Management window or the drawing canvas.
Selection	Allows the user to collect elements for the drawlist. Refer to Add Selection to Drawlist for further information.
List	Allows the user to create a new list. Refer to Create a List for further information.
Current Claimlist	Select from the drop-down menu to create a drawlist from elements that are currently claimed.
Remove
CE	Select from the drop-down menu to remove the currently selected element from the list using the Drawlist Management window or from the drawing canvas.
CE Members	Select from the drop-down menu to remove the currently selected element and associated child elements from the list using the Drawlist Management window or the drawing canvas.
from List	Select from the drop-down menu to remove the currently selected item from the list.
All	Select from the drop-down menu to remove all items from the list
Selection	Allows the user to collect elements for removal from the drawlist. Refer to Delete Selection from Drawlist for further information.
List	Select from the drop-down menu to delete the currently selected list and all associated items.
Format	Select Name from the drop-down list to display item names. Select Description from the drop-down list to display item descriptions.
	Select Name and Description from the drop-down list to display item names and descriptions. Item descriptions are enclosed in brackets.
Action	Click to action standard command syntax entered in the field at the bottom of the window. The command is applied to each element in the list. For example, input the command BY X 600 to move each element in the list 600mm along the X axis.

Add Selection to Drawlist

To collect elements for the drawlist, on the Lists/Collections window, click Add, select Selection from the drop-down menu to display the Add to List window.

The Add to List window allows the user to define the elements for collection to be added to the drawlist.


Selection	Input a value in the field to define the elements to be considered for selection. For example, input ALL to consider all elements or TYPE EQUI to consider equipment elements for selection.
with Rule	Input a valid PML expression to define the selection rule. For example, input TEMP GT 100 to consider elements that have a temperature attribute specified as greater than 100 for selection.
for Element	Select the radio button to consider all elements for selection below a defined element. The element can be defined from the Current DB or All DBs using the drop-down list.
from List	Select the radio button to consider elements for selection from an available drawlist using the drop-down list.
within 3D Volume	Select the check box to consider elements for selection within a defined volume. Input dimensional values in the directional fields to define the coordinates of two opposing corners of the defined volume. The direction can be defined in East, West, North, South, Up and Down directions using the drop-down lists.
wholly in Volume	Select the check box to consider elements for selection that are wholly positioned within a defined volume. Input dimensional values in the directional fields to define the coordinates of two opposing corners of the defined volume. The direction can be defined in East, West, North, South, Up and Down directions using the drop-down lists.
Use 3D Cursor	Click to consider elements for selection within a defined volume using a cursor pick in the 3D view.
Use DRAFT View Limits	Click to consider elements for selection in the currently selected view.

Click Apply to collect elements for the drawlist or Dismiss to discard any changes and close the Add to List window. The user is returned to the Lists/Collections window.

Create a List

To create a list, on the Lists/Collections window, click Add, select List from the drop-down menu to display the Create List window.

Input a name for the list in the Description field.

Click OK to create the list or Cancel to discard any changes and close the Create List window. The user is returned to the Lists/Collections window.

Delete Selection from Drawlist

To collect elements for deletion from the drawlist, on the Lists/Collections window, click Remove, select Selection from the drop-down menu to display the Remove from List window.

The functionality of the Remove from List window is identical to the Add to List window. Refer to Add Selection to Drawlist for further information.

Modify View Drawlist

To apply a different drawlist to the currently selected view, on the Format 2D tab, in the Drawlist group, click Reference to display the Drawlist Reference window.

Alternatively, on the Limits-Defined View window, click Graphics, select Drawlist Ref from the drop-down list.

The Drawlist Reference window lists the drawlists contained in the drawlist library.


CE	Click to identify the currently selected view as the working element.
List Ref	Displays the current drawlist reference.
Options	Select As Displayed from the drop-down list to use the drawlist that has produced the current display Select Use Drawings from the drop-down list to use a drawlist as set at DRWG level. If this is unset, then the option is set to Reference Unset. Select Use Sheets from the drop-down list to use a drawlist as set at SHEE level. If this is unset, then the option is set to Reference Unset. Select Reference Unset from the drop-down list to set the drawlist to Unset.
Drawlist Library	Select a drawlist library from the drop-down list.
Display	Click to display the contents of the selected drawlist in the Drawlist Contents.
Modify	Click to display the Drawlist Management window. Refer to Define View Contents for further information.

Click Apply to associate a drawlist with the current view or Cancel to discard any changes and close the Drawlist Reference window.
