The MDS designer can modify some of the defaults using the MDS Application Defaults form (Figure 3:11.: MDS Application Defaults form). To access this form select Settings > MDS Defaults > Application from the MDS main menu bar.

The following examples show the effect of selecting the members in different orders. In Figure 3:12.: ID1 = off, ID2 = off both flange gaps are set to off. In Figure 3:13.: Left first, ID1 = Inside, ID2 = Outside and Figure 3:14.: Right first, ID1 = Inside, ID2 = Outside, ID1 and ID2 have the same settings but have been selected in different orders. The same is also true for Figure 3:15.: Left first, ID1 = Inside, ID2 = Off and Figure 3:16.: Right first, ID1 = Inside, ID2 = Off, resulting in a mirrored structure in both cases.
