Modifies the grid name, description, function, locks the grid and positions the grid.

Grid planes can be modified explicitly using the Properties window. For example, the position of a grid can be modified.

Editor is a mode of operation in MODEL which allows you to reposition selected items using the mouse. Refer to Non-Routed Item for further information.

The general and positional properties of the REFGRD element can be modified.


General
Name	Input a name in the field to modify the name. By default, member elements are renamed if the name is modified.
Description	Input a value in the field to modify the description.
Function	Input a value in the field to modify the function.
Purpose	Defines a project main reference grid. Refer to Main Reference Grid for further information.
Lock	Input True in the field to lock the element for modification. Input False in the field to unlock the grid for modification. Member elements can also be locked individually.
Positional
Position	Input values in the fields to position the grid explicitly.
Orientation	Input values in the field to modify the direction of the X, Y and Z axis.

Main Reference Grid

Additional functionality becomes available for a reference grid that is defined as a main reference grid.

The following functionality is available.

A main reference grid is the default reference grid for a grid ruler. Refer to Grid Ruler for further information.

•

A hull view location can be defined. Refer to Create Hull View for further information.

•

The position of an element, relative to the main reference grid, can be queried. Refer to Query Element Position for further information.

To distinguish the main reference grid from other reference grids, set the Purpose property of the REFGRD to PLNT (in a Plant project) or SHIP (in a Marine project).

Query Element Position

Queries the position of an element relative to the reference grid.

The Purpose field of the REFGRD must be populated with the value PLNT or SHIP. If more than one reference grid is populated with the Purpose value, the element position is measured from the nearest reference grid.

The table details the commands that can be used to query the position of the currently selected element.


q gridx	The position of the element, relative to the nearest grid plane along the X axis, displays in the Command Window. For example: GRIDX AxisES.1 + 1830mm indicates that the position of the element is +1830mm from the grid plane ES.1 along the X axis.
q gridy	The position of the element, relative to the nearest grid plane along the Y axis, displays in the Command Window. For example: GRIDY RowES.B + 1830mm indicates that the position of the element is +1830mm from the grid plane ES.B along the Y axis.
q gridz	The position of the element, relative to grid origin along the Z axis, displays in the Command Window. For example: GRIDZ Elev+4880mm + 1830mm indicates that the position of the element is +4880mm vertically and +1830mm horizontally from the grid origin.
q shipx	The position of the element, relative to the nearest grid plane along the X axis, displays in the Command Window. For example: SHIPX AxisES.1 + 1830mm indicates that the position of the element is +1830mm along the X axis of the grid from the grid plane ES.1.
q shipy	The position of the element, relative to the nearest grid plane along the Y axis, displays in the Command Window. For example: GRIDY RowES.B + 1830mm indicates that the position of the element is +1830mm from the grid plane ES.B along the Y axis.
q shipz	The position of the element, relative to grid origin along the Z axis, displays in the Command Window. For example: SHIPZ Elev+4880mm + 1830mm indicates that the position of the element is +4880mm vertically and +1830mm horizontally from the grid origin.
