Line Styles Manager

Sets the visual style for lines which controls their appearance when added to a drawing. For example, the pattern, text and glyph used to draw the line.

DRAW is supplied with a default visual style which is initially assigned to lines by default. However, you can also define line styles. A user-defined line style can be set as the default style for lines.

The assigned line style can be changed from the default at any time to any style after being added to a drawing.

Create and Modify Line Styles

Sets the appearance of visual styles for lines.

The existing user-defined line styles display in the Available Styles list.

Select a style from the list to view and modify the line style details.


	Create a new line style	Displays the Create Line Style window. Refer to Create Line Style for further information.
	Create a new line style with starting values created from the selected one	Allows you to copy an existing visual style. Refer to Copy Line Style for further information.

Set Default Line Style

Sets the default line style for subsequently added lines.

Select the check box adjacent to the required style in the Available Styles list.

Change Visual Style of Lines

Applies a different visual style to a line.

Select a line style in the Available Styles list.

Use the Properties tab to modify the line style properties. Refer to Properties for further information.


Decoration distribution	Specifies the placement rules for the Glyph and Text across the line. The default value is Spaced 3.
Decoration gap	Specifies the clearance distance around the decoration within the line. The default value is 0.00.
Decoration offset	Adjusts the placement of the decoration elements with respect to each line segment. The default value is X 0mm Y 0mm.
Decoration repeat	Specifies the distance between repeated decorations affecting the density of the decoration when drawn. The default value is 0.00.
Decoration size	Specifies the Text and Glyph size of single decoration elements. The default value is 0.00.
Glyph	Specifies the glyph element used to decorate the line. The default value is 0 Off.
Text	Specifies the text used to decorate the line. The default value is empty.
Text alignment	Specifies the text alignment with respect to each line segment. The default value is Bottom.
Text font	Specifies the font for the text line decoration. The default value is By Template.
Alternative definition	Specifies an alternative line style for use in other features. For example, plot files. Only existing line styles can be selected by name. The default value is NullRef which specifies that no alternative line style is selected.
Line style number	Specifies an internal value that identifies the line style. The property is read only.
Name	Specifies the line style name. The value is populated from the line style name in the Available Styles list.
Owner	Specifies the line style owning element. The property is read only.
Line description	Describes the line style functionality. The default value is empty.
Pattern definition	Specifies the integer part list that defines the line pattern The default value is unset.
Pattern line width	Specifies the width of the pattern elements. The default value is 0.00.
Pattern name	Specifies the line style pattern name. The default value is Solid.
Pattern name id	Specifies the line style pattern identifier. The property is read only.
Pattern repeat length	Specifies the pattern repeat length. The default value is -1.0.

Use the Preview shapes tab to view the line style as various different shapes using the currently defined properties.

Click OK to apply the line style settings and close the Line Styles Manager window.

Create Line Style

Creates a new line style.

Note:

The Create Linestyle window is similar to the Hierarchy Browser window. Refer to Hierarchy Browser for further information.

Browse the hierarchy to select the library element that the new style is to be created under. Input a name in the Name field, or leave it blank if the style is to be assigned a name automatically.

To open a drop-down menu consisting of elements that can be created at the current level, click New above the left-hand part of the window.

The icon above the right-hand part of the window is used to specify whether styles display as thumbnails, a simple list, or a list with details.

Click Create to create the new style. The new style is then created and added to the Available Styles list in the Line Styles Manager window.

Click Cancel to discard any changes and close the Create Linestyle window.

Copy Line Style

Creates a new line style as a copy of an existing line style.

The Create Linestyle window displays. Refer to Create Line Style for further information.

Browse the hierarchy to select the library element that the new style is to be created under. Input a name in the Name field, or leave it blank if the style is to be assigned a name automatically.

Click Create to create the new style. The copy of the selected style is then created and added to the Available Styles list in the Line Styles Manager window.
