Drafting Options

DRAW User Guide

Options and Setup : Options : Drafting Options

On the Project tab, click Options, click Drafting to display the Drafting Options.

Allows the user to define the way in which objects are selected.


Pickbox Size	Move the slider to define the display size of the pickbox.
Grip Size	Move the slider to define the display size of the grip.
Max number of Grips	Input a value in the field to specify the maximum number of grips that can display simultaneously.
Use shift to add to selection	Select the check box to specify that holding down Shift adds or removes selected objects.

Object Snap Settings

Allows the user to define the snap marker size and aperture box size. Functionality is also available to specify the Grid Settings and Object Snap settings.


Snap Marker SIze	Move the slider to define the size of the snap marker.
Aperture Box Size	Move the slider to define the size of the aperture box.
Display snap aperuture box	Select the check box to draw the snap aperture box while specifying coordinates with the mouse.
Advanced	Allows the user to specify the Grid Settings and Object Snap settings. Refer to Advanced Drafting Settings for further information.

Advanced Drafting Settings

On the Drafting Options, click Advanced to display the Advanced Draft Settings window, which is used to specify the Grid Settings and Object Snap settings.

Select the Grid Settings tab to specify the current sheet/view grid display settings. The user can also define grid spacing, grid style, and ruler display settings.

Functionality is also available to specify current sheet/view grid snap settings. The user can also define snap spacing, which controls how closely the cursor adheres to the grid.


Grid On (F7)	Select the check box to display the grid on the current sheet/view.
Grid Spacing	Input dimensional values in the X and Y fields to define the grid spacing.
Grid Snap On (F9)	Select the check box to snap objects to the grid on the current sheet/view.
Style	Select a grid display style from the drop-down list.
Draw rulers	Select the check box to display rulers when the grid displays.

Note:

Grid and grid snapping can also be turned on and off with the Interact group of the Draw tab.

Select the Object Snap tab to specify current sheet/view object snap settings. The View and Sheet/Region tabs are identical.

Select the Object Snap On (F3) check box to turn on snap object functionality.

Select the Object Snap Projection On (F4) check box to turn on snap object projection functionality.

Select the check boxes on the View and Sheet/Region tabs to specify the types of snap points that are available (refer to Snap Object for more information).

Click Select all to select all available snap points.

Click Clear all to de-select all available snap points.

Click OK to apply the grid and snap settings or Cancel to discard any changes and close the Advanced Draft Settings window. The user is returned to the Drafting Options.

Dynamic Hints Settings

Select the Animate dynamic hints check box to display hints with full opacity only when the user is not active (for example, the user is not moving the mouse).

De-select the Animate dynamic hints check box to display hints at all times, regardless of the user activity.

Anti-aliasing

Select the Anti-aliasing check box to turn on anti-aliasing.
