System Update
There are occasions when the database needs to be updated specifically, as opposed to the routine updating that occurs from time to time in normal use. System update explains when and how this should be done.
Picture Files
Update picture files can be carried out to recover from a corrupt picture file, or if an attempt has been made to display a view created using a previous version of DRAW.
Annotation graphics are always restored but Design graphics can not be restored. In all cases, a message alert displays instructing the user to proceed with the update operation, this is the only time that the update should be processed.
To update picture files, on the
Update
tab, in the
General
group, click
Picture
.
Backing Sheets
To manually update backing sheets with database changes, on the
Update
tab, in the
General
group, click

Update Template Instances
Update template instances scans the database hierarchy and updates all parts of picture files that use the graphics ‘instancing’ mechanism.
To update template instances, on the
Update
tab, in the
General
group, click

.
Cross-Database Reference Attributes
Update cross-database reference attributes updates all DRAW element attributes that refer to elements in the Design database. The settings of the attributes exist as database reference numbers.
The update function operates on the current element. It should only be used if the Design database has been deleted and rebuilt from macros.
To update cross-database reference attributes, on the
Update
tab, in the
General
group, click
Refs
.
Cross-Database Name Attributes
DRAW elements with attributes that refer to elements in the Design database (the settings of which exist as database reference numbers) also have (hidden) text attributes set to the names of the referenced elements. Update cross-database name attributes updates the latter attributes, using the settings of the associated reference attributes.
The update function operates on the current element. It should only be used if the Design database has been deleted and rebuilt from macros.

Update
tab, in the
