Running Global Projects
Using Global to Distribute Catalogue Data
Using Global to Distribute Catalogue Data
Global can be used to distribute the catalogue databases around the world, so that projects can include them as foreign databases.
A project cannot include a database from a Global project unless the project itself is Global (that is, the MAKE GLOBAL command has been executed). Therefore, in order to have a set-up where you have several projects all using a Global distributed project, they themselves must be Global, in the MAKE GLOBAL sense: they don't have to be distributed themselves- Single location Global projects do not require a Global licence.
Single location Global projects may be created and made Global at their resident location. You will then be able to include the catalogue data in the usual way.
If there are many multiple-location projects that share this project, then it will be necessary (because of your HUB licence) to create and make each project Global at the HUB and then copy them to their eventual resident locations. You will then be able to include the catalogue data in the usual way.
Note that if a Global project is being used to distribute catalogue databases for other projects to include, the Overwrite DB Users flag (see
admnew Files
) should be disabled.
