Preliminary Supports
To create a standard preliminary support, on the Supports tab, in the Create group, click Preliminary to display the MDS Preliminary Supports window.
Enter a name for the support to be created in the Name field either manually or by clicking Autoname. OK becomes active. Refer to the MDS Administrator Guide for further information.
Select the preliminary support type from the list. At any time when the Preliminary Supports window is displayed, the user can click View to see the engineering drawing corresponding to the selected support. Click OK to display the creation window for the selected support.
This window contains all of the available 18 preliminary supports. Support names and descriptions can be modified in the MDS Ancillary Defaults window. Refer to the MDS Administrator Guide for further information.

Select Create datum support atta. and when prompted to Identify tube of pipe, make a suitable selection.

Use Distance with a distance value in the text field

Click OK.
A graphical X identifies the preliminary support position.
