Create a Weld on a Framework or Special
To create a weld:

Select the Create Weld icon from the MDS Framework or Special Framework window. The Framework Weld Selection window (Figure 9:1.: Framework Weld Selection window) is displayed.

All Welds created or modified are stored in a TMPL at the STRU level of the support in the database. They are displayed together with all relevant welding information in the weld list, such as shown below.
Section:
The name of the section with which the Weld is associated.
Weld name:
The name of the weld as stored in the TMPL in the database.
Symbol Name:
The name of the symbol as used in DRAW on the MDS drawing.
Description:
Text to describe the weld type.
Weld Size:
The size of the weld that is output on the MDS drawing.

Click on New Weld. The Select Standard Weld window (Figure 9:2.: Select Standard Weld window) is displayed.

Standard welds provide a method of selecting the weld symbol for use in DRAW on the MDS drawing.

Select the Weld.

Click Apply.
Nothing happens in the database at this point. Information is passed from the Select Standard Weld window into the Framework Weld Selection window.

Click on Save on the Framework Weld Selection window (Figure 9:1.: Framework Weld Selection window). The selection is written to the database.
