On-Line Help
The AVEVA E3D™ product supports the ability for the online help to be accessed by default from the AVEVA help server (help.aveva.com). It is also possible for the help files to be downloaded and installed either on each user's local machine, on a central shared file server or a local intranet web server. The following details the configuration required to achieve each option.
Help Accessed from AVEVA Help Server
No configuration required, this is the default behaviour.
Help Files Installed on Local User Machine
Download help files from the AVEVA support site at: ?????
The zip file ???? should be unzipped into a suitable directory (e.g. C:\ProgramData\AVEVA\Help)
The environment variable AVEVA_DESIGN_HELP_HOST must be set:
set AVEVA_DESIGN_HELP_HOST=file://C:\ProgramData\AVEVA\Help\
This can be done in the "launch.init" file or any other .bat file used to configure the AVEVA E3D™ environment.
Correct configuration can be tested by entering this value followed by "index.html" into the address field of your web browser.
Help File Install on a Shared File Server
In a very similar way to the above the zip file could be unzipped into a directory on a shared file server and the AVEVA_DESIGN_HELP_HOST environment variable set to point to this.
E.g.
set AVEVA_DESIGN_HELP_HOST=file://\\fileserver1\AVEVA\Help\
Host the Help Files on a Local Web Server
A new website can be created using for example IIS and the help zip file used as the web site contents.
In this case the environment variable should be set to something like the following:
Set AVEVA_DESIGN_HELP_HOST=http://webserver/AVEVA_HELP/
Correct configuration can be tested by entering this value into the address field of your web browser.
Help About
Selecting Project > Help displays a window showing the current version of software installed and who the product is licensed to.
Clicking Additional Info displays the Additional Information window which reports all the details related to all the version.dat files which are located in the PMLLIB and PMLUI search paths.
Copy Info, copies the information to the clipboard allowing the user to paste the information into a file, which can then be saved.
Clicking Appware scans all the application appware to check if any have been changed. All changes are displayed in the Appware Changes from Installed window.
