Modify Objects using Grip Points
When an object is selected, the grip points display in blue. There are various types of grip point, for example, squares and diamonds.
You can manipulate a grip point to modify the appearance of an object.
When a grip point is selected, the display colour changes to red.
Stretch Objects using Endpoints
Stretches objects using endpoints that display as blue squares or blue triangles.
To stretch an object, click an endpoint.
You are prompted to Specify stretch point
Input the distance to move the endpoint at the prompt and press Enter or click to identify the endpoint position.
The object is manipulated and the command ends automatically.
Alternatively, an object can be stretched using the stretch command. Refer to Stretch Objects for further information.
In the case of a triangle or hexagon, stretching an end-point increases the size of the object. The shape of the object is maintained. For example, an equilateral triangle does not become an isosceles triangle when stretched.
In the case of a rectangle, stretching an end-point increases the length or height of the object. The shape of the object is maintained.
In the case of diamonds, stretching an endpoint changes the diameter of the shape on the endpoint axis. The opposite endpoint is automatically stretched by the same amount as the endpoint that is stretched by you.
In the case of irregular shapes, stretching an endpoint stretches the selected corner of the shape to a new point.
In the case of lines and arcs, stretching an endpoint stretches the selected end of the line to a new position.
The endpoints of arcs display as blue triangles. Stretching the endpoint stretches the end of the arc to a new position, along the current curve of the arc.
Note:
Alternatively, you are prompted to Specify Angle. Input the sweep angle at the prompt and press Enter.
Stretch Objects using Midpoints
Stretches objects using midpoints that display as blue squares, blue triangles, blue diamonds or blue crosses.
In the case of a circle, stretching a mid-point increases the size of the circle. The shape of the object is maintained. The circle does not become an ellipse.
The midpoints of ellipses display as two types of grip points: blue squares and blue triangles.
Stretching a square midpoint grip changes the diameter of an ellipse on that axis. The opposite midpoint is automatically stretched by the same amount as the point stretched by you.
Stretching an ellipse using a triangular midpoint grip increases the ellipse by the same amount along each axis.
The midpoints of arcs are indicated by blue squares and blue triangles.
Stretching a square midpoint results in the midpoint being stretched to a new position while the endpoints of the arc remain in the same position.
Stretching a triangle midpoint results in the arc being increased or decreased in size by the amount stretched.
The midpoints of irregular shapes display as two types of grip point: blue diamonds and a line connected to a blue cross (vertex midpoint). The grip points can be used to stretch a midpoint in different ways.
Stretching a blue-diamond midpoint results in the line that the midpoint is on being stretched out into an arc.
Stretching a vertex midpoint results in the line that the midpoint is on being stretched out into a new point, creating a new vertex.
Note:
Vertex midpoint grips can be displayed using the status bar. Refer to Status Bar for further information.
Rotate Objects using Grip Points
Rotates rectangles, diamonds, triangles or hexagons using grip points that display as blue double-headed arrows.
To rotate an object, select the rotate grip point and input an angular value in the field and press Enter or click to identify the rotation angle of the object.
Fillet Object Corners using Grip Points
Fillets object corners for rectangles, diamonds and triangles using grip points that display as blue crescents.
To fillet the corners of an object, input a dimensional value in the field and press Enter.
Alternatively, you can drag the grip point away from the object centre to increase the fillet radius or towards the centre to decrease the fillet radius.
Move Objects using Grip Points
Moves objects using centre point grips that display as blue squares (irregular shaped objects do not have Centre grip points).
To move an object, click the centre point grip and input values in the dimension fields and press Enter or click to identify the new centre grip point location.
