Monitor Reference Manual

Using MONITOR : Output Destination
The data output by the commands described in this chapter can be sent to the screen or to a file. By default, the data is sent to the screen, but it can be directed to a file using the ALPHA FILE or FILE command. These commands also specify the number of characters in a line and the number of lines on a page, and whether the file should be overwritten if new data is sent to it.
If you have specified that output should be sent to a file using the ALPHA FILE command, you can return to output being sent to the screen by giving the ALPHA FILE END command. If you have specified that output should be sent to a file using the FILE command, you must use the TERMINAL command to send output to the screen. ALPHA FILE is recommended for normal use.
The default is TERMINAL WITH 80 CHARACTERS.
