Flushing/Issuing
It is common practice for all users on a project that uses Extract databases, whether Global or not, to follow common practices of Flushing. Generally it is expected that each user will be expected to Claim, Flush and or Issue on an object-by-object (or small group of objects). However, it may be decided by some customers to manage the Flush and Issue on a collective basis at managed intervals, say once a day. If this is done then the Flush or Issue should be done at as high a level in the database e.g. SITE. This reduces both the number of sessions created and the database file size.
Note that if the Model Object Manager software is in use, the program does background flushing and issuing to keep the Primary data as synchronised with the Oracle data as possible. If Model Object Manager is in use regular Global Updates will also reduce the risk of the user viewing Oracle data that is not synchronised.
