Update Timings
It is extremely difficult to predict the length of time that an update will take to complete. It will depend upon the bandwidth that is dedicated to the update process at the time it is run. Therefore, if the line is shared with other comms programs (mail, internet, etc), the update performance will be affected. The timings described below were undertaken on a line that had no other process competing, and a line that was extremely clean - that is, its rate of failure would be near zero. On a normal WAN line, its collision and failure rate would not achieve anywhere near such a low level.
