Project Conversion : Model Conversion

Use the Model Conversion window to select the parts of the project (model) that will be converted (created) in the S3D project and how it will be converted. By default the Tree Selector tab is displayed, refer to PML Query for further information.

Tree Selector

Select the parts (lowest level) of the project to converted from the Tree Selector tab in the Model Conversion window:


BRAN	Piping and cable trays
HVACs	HVAC
STRU	Sructures
REST/HANG	Hangers and supports.

A right click menu displays additional information for the elements used in the project (for example: specifications).

Before conversion begins, make sure that an connection between E3D and S3D has been established.

Note:

By default, in a new project no elements are selected when first time connections are made.

Log Inspector

Displays the Log Inspector window, refer to Log Inspector for further information.

Show Attributes

Displays the E3D attributes associated with the currently selected element.

Clear

Clears all the selected check boxes on the Tree Selector tab.

Note:

There is no UNDO functionality.

Stop

Use to stop the conversion process.

Convert

Use to begin the conversion process, (the time taken to perform the conversion process depends upon the geometry complexity and number of components).

Upon completion, an Excel file and xml data are produced (S3D reference data).

PML Query

Use the functionality available from the PML Query tab on the Model Conversion window to select what to export rather than searching for it.

Note:

PML Query can be thought of as an equivalent to the command line functionality.


Log Inspector	Refer to Log Inspector for further information.
Stop	Refer to Stop for further information.
Convert	Refer to Convert for further information.

A combination of selecting components (Tree Selector/PML Query) can be used, if duplicate elements are selected, only one element is exported).

Note:

To temporarily disable the export of elements add # at the beginning of the comment lines.

Log Inspector

Use the Log Inspector window to view and/or filter log messages.


FILTERING	Select the relevant check box to filter the log messages displayed in the Log Viewer window.
Refresh	Use to refresh the log messages displayed in the Log Viewer window.
Save As	Use to save the log information to a specified location.
Close	Use to close the Log Viewer window.
