Graphical User Interface Recovery After Failure and Crashes
Graphical User Interface Recovery After Failure and Crashes
On startup, the
IFC Export
window searches for the default .expsav file. If one is not found, the system default values are used. If it is found, the fields on the
IFC Export
window are set accordingly.
There are times when window initialisation can fail. AVEVA E3D™ might crash completely without saving elements to the database. Upon relaunch, the window tries to access elements that have been created before the crash. Messages are displayed in the
Command Window
when the
IFC Export
window tries to recover data.
The error messages give an indication of where the problems have been encountered. In the image there are some messages most likely to be encountered:
Db Source - undefined reference
This message is displayed when exporting something without saving it in the database before AVEVA E3D™ crashed. When AVEVA E3D™ is relaunched, these elements no longer exist.
RefDatumByName - Reference Datum does not exist
A Reference Datum might have been created and used for a failed export. The system cannot use that, and then refers to the default Reference Datum, IFCGLOBAL. The Reference Datum must be created again.
However, if IFCGLOBAL has not been saved before crashing, the message is displayed. In this case, no action is required as the default Reference Datum, IFCGLOBAL, is created automatically.
Load failed: Method xxx not found
This error might occur when trying to use a settings file which refers to functions that no longer exist. The system might need alternative information before export.
