Introduction

Design In Context allows you to view AVEVA NET documents from within AVEVA Everything3D™1.1, AVEVA Everything3D™2.1, AVEVA Everything3D™3.1, AVEVA Diagram™, AVEVA Engineering™ and AVEVA Marine™ 12.1.SP5 based on objects selected in these applications. Design in Context is able to search for and present data differently depending on what type of data is selected. For example, searching for documents related to an existing system, which is not yet modelled in the current model, but contains information useful to the designer.

Accessing the Design in Context commands differs between AVEVA Everything3D™1.1, AVEVA Everything3D™2.1, AVEVA Everything3D™3.1, AVEVA Diagrams™, AVEVA Engineering™ and AVEVA Marine™ 12.1.SP5 but perform the same operations.

AVEVA Everything3D™ 1.1

To setup a server, on the Admin tab, in the AVEVA NET group, click Add Server to display the Dashboard Server Selection window. Refer to Dashboard Server for further information.

All the other commands are available in the Context group within the TOOLS tab and on the Associated Documents window accessed by clicking Browse. Refer to Associated Documents for further information.

	Settings for Context Information	Click to display the Configuration window. Refer to Configure for further information.
	Open Recent Documents	Displays the Associated Documents window with your recently accessed documents displayed.
	Open Collections	Displays the Associated Documents window in Collections mode.
	Favourite Documents	Displays the Associated Documents window with your favourite documents displayed.
	Restore Last Set of Documents	After launching the application, click to restore all the documents which were open when the application was last closed. The documents would be opened in same window size and at same location as before.
	Browse Context Information	Click to display the Associated Documents window. Refer to Associated Documents for further information.
	Open AVEVA NET Dashboard in Browser	Click to open the AVEVA NET Dashboard. Refer to AVEVA NET Dashboard for further information.

Dashboard Server

To use Design in Context you need to set up a server connection with AVEVA NET Dashboard in order to access the data. To set up a server connection, click Add Server to display the Dashboard Server Selection window.


	Add New Server	Click to add a new server connection. A new line is displayed with attribute fields.

You must enter the correct values into the attribute fields and then select the Default Server from the drop down list.

Click Apply to accept the entry or Dismiss to close the window.

When you have added a server, the Dashboard Server Selection window will display that the connection was successful.

Multiple server connections can be added and the required server connection can be set as default by selecting from the Default Server drop down list.


	Delete a Server	Highlight the server connection in the list and click to delete.

Configure

You can configure the default settings for Design In Context by clicking Configure to display the Configuration window.

If the Auto Tracking check box is selected, the current element is displayed in the Search field of the Associated Documents window and an automatic search will be performed and the results displayed.

If the Auto Tracking check box is not selected, the current element is displayed in the Search field of the Associated Document window but no automatic search is performed. To perform a search you must click Search.

Group Document by

Allows you to change the way the results on the Associated Documents window are displayed, either by Document Type or by Tag.

If Document Type is selected, all of the Tags are grouped and displayed in different groups for a particular Document Type.

When the documents are opened, the documents in each group will open as tabs in the same window.

Each group of documents will open in it’s own window.

If Tag is selected, all of the Document Types are grouped and displayed in a list.

Associated Documents

The Associated Documents window allows you to do all the navigating activity for Design In Context.

AVEVA Everything3D™ 1.1

On the TOOLS tab, in the Context group, click Browse to open the Associated Documents window.

AVEVA Everything3D™ 2.1/AVEVA Everything3D™ 3.1

On the TOOLS tab, in the Context group, click Browse to open the Associated Documents window or by right-clicking in the Graphical View to display the PowerWheel and selecting Context > Browse Documents.

AVEVA Diagrams™ and AVEVA Engineering™

On the AVEVA NET tab, in the Context group, click Browse to open the Associated Documents window.

In AVEVA Diagrams™ and AVEVA Engineering™ the Associated Documents window can also be opened in a specific mode by clicking either Recent Documents, Collections, Favourites or Restore from the Manage group on the AVEVA NET tab.

The current item selected in the application will be displayed in the Search field. Click on

to list the documents related to that item. If the Auto Tracking check box has been selected on the Configuration window, the current element is displayed in the Search field of the Associated Documents window and an automatic search is performed and the results displayed.

The displayed view can be either a List View or a Thumbnail View based on the selection.


	Open Recent Documents	Click to display a list of the recently viewed documents.
	Open Collections	Click to display the list of saved Collections. Refer to Collections for further information.
	Favourite Documents	Click to display the list of documents saved to the Favourites group. Refer to Favourite Documents for further information.
	Restore Last Set of Documents	After launching the application, click to restore all the documents which were open when the application was last closed. The documents would be opened in same window size and at same location as before.

Collections

You can create a user defined set of documents called Collections. Each collection can be named and a number of different documents can be saved within the collection.

To add a new collection click Collections to display the Associated Documents window in collections mode.

Click New Collection and enter a name in the displayed field.


	Save	Click to save the new collection. The collection is added to the Collections list.
	Cancel	Click to cancel the new collection and return to the previous screen.

To add documents to an existing or a new collection, select the check box(es) preceding the document name in the List View or select the check box(es) located bottom left in the Thumbnail View.

Select either an existing collection from the drop down list or create a New Collection by entering a name into the field.

After selecting an existing collection you have two options.


	Save	Click to save the selected documents to the selected collection.
	Cancel	Click to cancel. The selected documents will not be added to the selected collection

To create a new collection, you can either select New Set from the drop down list and click Save which will create a new collection named New Set or type a new name for the collection in the field and click Save.

Clicking Cancel with return you back to the document list without creating a new collection.

To rename a collection, select the collection and click

. A text field with the name of the collection will be displayed.

Type the new name for the collection in the text field and click

. A confirmation message will be displayed showing the collection name has been updated.

Clicking Cancel will return you back to the collection list without editing the collection name.

To remove a collection from the collection list select the collection check box(es) and click

. You will be asked to confirm the removal.

You have two options.


	Delete Collection	Click to delete the collection from the collection list. A confirmation that the collect has been deleted will be displayed.
	Cancel	Clicking Cancel will return you back to the collection list without deleting the collection.

Favourite Documents

You can add documents to a favourite group by clicking

preceding the document name in the List View or located top right in the Thumbnail View.

After clicking it’s colour will change to blue

to indicate that it has been added to Favourites.

To remove a documents from Favourites, click the blue star in either the List View, Thumbnail View or the Favourites View. In the List View and Thumbnail View the star will revert back to grey. In the Favourites view the document will be removed.

AVEVA NET Dashboard

The currently selected item in the explorer can be displayed in the AVEVA NET Dashboard by clicking AVEVA NET Dashboard.

In AVEVA Everything3D™ 2.1/ AVEVA Everything3D™ 3.1 the AVEVA NET Dashboard can also be displayed from the PowerWheel (Ctrl+Right Click).

ERM Integration - Browse

Use the Design in Context functionality to view live data from AVEVA ERM directly from within AVEVA E3D™ based on the element selected in the application. Or use to view live data as pseudo attributes.

Note:

Data can also be viewed for objects that have been created in AVEVA Engineering™ and then published to AVEVA ERM and also imported to AVEVA E3D™ using the Compare/Update functionality. For such objects, Design in Context uses the object's reference id, as it is known in AVEVA Engineering™, to synchronise and display the data in AVEVA E3D™.

To view live data from AVEVA ERM in AVEVA E3D™, the AVEVA ERM settings must be configured, refer to Dashboard Server for further information.

Associated Information

The data displayed in the Associated Information window is delivered live from AVEVA ERM.

Note:

If the connection is down the Associated Information window is displayed blank.

When only AVEVA ERM is Configured

When only AVEVA ERM is configured the Associated Information window is displayed as follows populated with Material Information and Planning Information.

When Both AVEVA ERM and AVEVA NET are Configured

When both AVEVA ERM and AVEVA NET are configured, the Associated Information window is displayed as follows with Material Information and Planning Information.
