Common Functionality

AVEVA NET Gateway for AVEVA IE&D : Class and Attribute Mapping

Use the Class and Attribute Mapping part of the AVEVA NET Gateway Config window to map AVEVA E3D™ elements and attributes to AVEVA NET™. The mapping functionality defines the display of AVEVA E3D™ classes and attributes when exported to AVEVA NET™.

Class Mapping

Defines the mapping of AVEVA E3D™ element types to AVEVA NET™ classes.

Load Existing Class Mapping

Use Browse for Class Mapping File to load a .pmlmac file created by the legacy AVEVA NET Gateway application. When the file is selected, the class mappings defined using the legacy application are automatically loaded for the selected element types.

AVEVA NET Class

Use the AVEVA NET Class drop-down list to select an available class for mapping.

Note:

The AVEVA NET Class list does not necessarily display the current list of classes available in AVEVA NET™. Before attempting to map elements to classes, make sure that the classes in the AVEVA NET Class list resemble the list in AVEVA NET™. This may require manual addition or removal of classes.


Add AVEVA NET Class	Use to create an AVEVA Net Class. The field must be populated with a class name.
Delete AVEVA NET Class	Use to delete the currently selected AVEVA Net Class.

Selected Element

By default, the element types selected on the Element Selection and Filters part of the AVEVA NET Gateway Config window are displayed in the Selected Element column.

AVEVA NET Class

Use the AVEVA Net Class drop-down list to manually map the currently selected element type to an AVEVA NET Class.

Note:

Element types that are not mapped to an AVEVA NET Class are exported using the element type name.

Select the Map to Unknown check box to map unmapped element types to the UNKNOWN AVEVA NET Class. By default, the check box is deselected.

Attribute Mapping

Defines the mapping of AVEVA E3D™ attributes to AVEVA NET™ attributes. Attributes that are not mapped are not exported.

Load Existing Attribute Mapping

Use Browse for Attribute Mapping File to load the DES-VNET-INCLUDE file created by the legacy AVEVA NET Gateway application. If the loaded file does not contain the mappings but contains only the attributes, only the list of attributes is loaded.

AVEVA NET Attribute

Use the AVEVA NET Attribute drop-down list to select an available attribute for mapping.

Note:

The AVEVA NET Attribute list does not necessarily display the current list of attributes available in AVEVA NET™. Before attempting to map attributes, make sure that the attributes in the AVEVA NET Attribute list resemble the list in AVEVA NET™. This may require manual addition or removal of attributes.


Add AVEVA NET Attribute	Use to create an AVEVA Net Attribute. The field must be populated with an attribute name.
Delete AVEVA NET Attribute	Use to delete the currently selected AVEVA Net Attribute.

Attribute

The Attribute column contains the list of attributes for the selected element type. Use the Attribute drop-down list to select an attribute.

AVEVA Net Attribute

Use the AVEVA NET Attribute drop-down list to specify the AVEVA NET attribute.

Persist

Select the Persist check box to apply the attribute mapping to all element types where the attribute is present.

Add Attribute

Use to create an empty attribute mapping row.

Delete Attribute

Use to delete the currently selected attribute mapping.

Select all Attributes

Select the Select all attributes check box to display all available attributes for the currently selected element type. By default, the check box is deselected.

Add a PML Expression as an Attribute

A PML expression can be added as an attribute for selected element types. The PML expression must be typed in the Attribute column. The PML expression can be mapped to an AVEVA NET attribute. The result of the PML expression must be a string data type for successful export.

The examples indicate PML expressions that can be added as an attribute:

String(TYPE+'string'+NAME)

IFT(PSPE eq 'A3B',PSPE,'UNKNOWN'

If the Persist check box is selected for a PML expression, the expression and the corresponding mapping is added to all the selected element types.

Note:

The gateway does not validate PML expressions. If an invalid PML expression is entered, the attribute is not exported.

Mapping Name for Element Types

Names for the selected element types can be mapped from the list of available attributes. Select the required attribute and map it to the NAMEINOBJECT AVEVA NET attribute. This mapping enables element export using the Name with a value derived from the selected attribute.

The Persist check box must be selected to map a name for element types.

If the mapped attribute value is empty or null/unset/nulref, the Name value is unset. If the mapped attribute value is invalid, the name tag is the same as the ID.
