Data Reuse Window

To navigate through the Data Reuse windows, use the progress bar at the top of the window, progression between each window is achieved by use of the arrows located at the bottom of each window.

Copy From

The Copy From pane of the Data Reuse window is populated with all the database worlds and associated elements available to copy from, the Database tab is displayed by default.

Library

There are three sample APPLDA library examples included in the APS project. APP worlds can be built or copied from existing ones. For the APPLDA to be shown in the Library tab the owning APPLDW has to have PURP set to 'DRLI'.

Copy To

The Copy To pane of the Data Reuse window is populated with all the database worlds available to copy to.

If a SITE is selected in Copy From then a SITE or DBWORLD needs to be selected in Copy To.

If a ZONE is selected in Copy From then a ZONE or SITE needs to be selected in Copy To.

If an APPLDA is selected in Copy From then a SITE needs to be selected in Copy To.

Rules

Use the Rules pane of the Data Reuse window to define the rules which modify the copied elements. The Naming tab is displayed as default.

Naming Rules

The Naming rules are used to modify the name of the copied elements, rules can comprise of the following:


Element Type	Filters by element type, use the keyword 'ALL' to apply the rule to all element type.
Expression	Filters by expression.
Autoname	Use standard auto-naming rules, this is instead of defining 'From' and 'To' characters.
From	Defines characters to change from
To	Defines characters to change to
Where	Defines where in the name the 'from' characters should be changed
Members	Members with names that start with the elements name are also renamed.

The order of the rules is important as they will be run sequentially, use the functionality (Move To Top, Move Up, Move Down and Move To Bottom) available to change the order of the rules.

Attributes Rules

The Attributes rules are used to modify the attributes of the copied elements, rules can comprise of the following:


Element Type	Filters by element type
Expression	Filters by expression
Attribute Name	The attribute to modify, a drop down of all attributes available for selection once the Element Type cell has been filled-in.
Default Value	Changes the attribute value back to default, for example: sets it to the attribute value of a brand-new element.
Attribute Value	Value to change the attribute to.

Use the Load Rules and Save Rules functionality to load and save rules. The naming and attribute rules are saved in different files and are saved and loaded independently from each other.

A default set of saved rules can be stored for each, the files are stored in the following locations:

There is also the addition functionality available for selection, Add Rules, Copy Selected Rules, Remove Selected Rules and Remove All Rules.

Preview

Use the Preview functionality to view a preview of the new names based on the naming rules along with any errors.

Use the Apply functionality to copy the elements to the new location and apply any rules for names and attributes. A Confirmation message is displayed.

Results

Once the copy has been completed, the Results window is displayed. Any issues that may have arisen as part of the naming/attribute modification operations, as well as details of the elements modified are listed.

Use the Save Result Log File to save the content of the log file to a desired location and View to display the created log file.
