Use the PML Tracing functionality to select the level of detail the system is to collect, select where to store the specified file, remove sections of unwanted code, start or stop the PML trace or open the latest trace with PML studio.

Use to initiate a PML Trace, first set the trace level of detail you what the system to collect.

Enter a trace level in the Trace Level field, there are three levels, the default is Basic:

Basic - outputs methods and function

Advanced - outputs PML lines with line numbers

Expert - outputs low and medium with input lines.

Note:

This can also be set to the numerical trace code, for example: 85.

Trace To File

Use to specify where if the PML tracing will be saved to a file, toggle to enter the location of where the PML trace file will be stored, the default is not enabled.

Note:

If not used, the trace will be displayed in the Command Window.

Trace Options

Allows you to filter any sections of unwanted code from traces. The Trace Output Filtering Options window is displayed populated with criteria modelling notes.

Note:

To apply the filter criteria (Leave Enter/Exit Lines), close the Trace Output Filtering Options window

You can set the criteria to match on the Enter and Exit lines in the trace code. This is of particular use for internal system functions, if the line matches then the content between the Enter and its relative Exit line will be removed from the trace code.

Each string criteria must be bound by the '|' character and multiple strings can be combined using "AND". Regular expressions can also be created using REGEX() syntax.

Below are 3 examples of how this can be used:

REFRESH|AND|[1]| Matches on enter lines which contain the text ".REFRESH" and "[1]"

REGEX(\b] Internal Command\b)| Matches on enter lines which match the regular expression "\b] Internal Command\b"

Delete All

Deletes all entries in the Trace Outputs Filtering Options window.

Defaults

Populates the Trace Output Filtering Options window with defaults.

Trace Toggle

Use to start or stop the PML trace functionality.

Open Trace

Use to open the latest PML trace file in PML Studio.
