Annotations
Annotations can be added to the 3D model in the form of text labels and linear dimensions. Text labels allow you to associate text with an element. Linear dimensions can be created to indicate the distance between two specified points in the 3D model. Annotations can be associated with a model position, a Ppoint or a Pline.
Annotations Hierarchy
All database elements are owned by other elements, therefore elements must be created in a strict order.
Dimension Group (DIMGRO)
Dimension Group (DIMGROU) elements are container elements for annotations and can be owned by SITE and ZONE elements. DIMGROU elements can also be owned by lower level elements, for example, STRU, FRMW and EQUI elements. DIMGROU elements can own Line Dimension (LINDIM) and Model Label (MLABEL) elements. If a DIMGRO element is not available when an annotation is created, MODEL creates a DIMGRO element, by default.
Linear Dimension (LINDIM)
LINDIM elements are owned by DIMGRO elements and can own Dimension Position (DIMPOS), Dimension Ppoint (DIMPPT) and Dimension Pline (DIMPLI) elements. By default a LINDIM element is created for each linear dimension.
Model Label (MLABEL)
MLABEL elements are owned by DIMGRO elements and can own Dimension Position (DIMPOS), Dimension Ppoint (DIMPPT) and Dimension Pline (DIMPLI) elements. By default a MLABEL element is created for each text label.
Dimension Position (DIMPOS)
DIMPOS elements are owned by LINDIM or MLABEL elements. By default a DIMPOS element is created for each annotation point associated with a model position.
Dimension Ppoint (DIMPPT)
DIMPPT elements are owned by LINDIM or MLABEL elements. By default a DIMPPT element is created for each annotation point associated with a Ppoint position.
Dimension Pline (DIMPLI)
DIMPLI elements are owned by LINDIM or MLABEL elements. By default a DIMPLI element is created for each annotation point associated with a Pline position.
